Story

Abigail was and always will be a shining star, and a very giving child. Taken so tragically from this world and her loving family by a brain haemorrhage.

At her death, she donated her organs to help save the lives of four other children. An amazing achievement in itself that we know she would think was very 'cool'! She was always thinking of others' wellbeing. She was even baking and selling cookies for Comic Relief the weekend before her death and had raised £10 from that alone. We know that she would love to raise money for charity and having seen the value of the work done at the Bristol Children's Hospital, we know that this is the right cause. The funds raised by the Wallace & Grommit Appeal (http://www.grandappeal.org.uk/) directly funds the equipment in the intensive care unit, which Abigail needed. While it didn't save her life, despite every effort and care by the amazing team of nurses, doctors and consultants, it gave us a few precious days to sit with her and tell her how much we love her. We know the staff at the hospital would be hugely grateful for any donation given.

This page will be for all donations no matter how small. Please don't feel obliged but we know that many people will want to do 'something for her. If you'd rather buy flowers, please do, but while flowers fade and die, the work by this hospital will continue. We hope never to need their help again or know anyone who does, but we are so thankful for what they do every single day.

Thank you from Mark, Kelly, Abigail, Jennifer and Joe xxxxx

This page is to raise sponsorship to help Kelly and her running buddies get to the finish of the Bristol 10k, taking place on 5 May 2013, in memory of Kelly’s 12-year-old daughter, Abigail, who died at Bristol Children’s Hospital on 10 February 2013 following a sudden brain haemorrhage at home.

Kelly says: “Abigail was a wonderful daughter, sister and friend. We know that she loved to raise money for charity and having seen the value of the work done at the Bristol Children's Hospital during our short time there, we know that this is the right cause. Some families are there for weeks at a time, trying to manage their lives and be by their sick child’s bedside. The funds raised by the Wallace & Grommit Appeal (http://www.grandappeal.org.uk/) directly funds the equipment in the intensive care unit, which Abigail needed, and other vital areas of the hospital. While it didn't save Abigail’s life, despite every effort and care by the amazing team of nurses, doctors and consultants, it gave us a few precious days to sit with her and tell her how much we love her. We know the staff at the hospital would be hugely grateful for any donation given.

This page will be for all donations no matter how small. Thank you to all who have already donated in her memory, it really means the world to us.”
