Sport has tremendous physical, psychological and social benefits for the participants, particularly young people. WheelPower provides and promotes opportunities for thousands of children and young adults with disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive wheelchair sport and improve their quality of life.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am riding in the London 100 mile cycle ride on the 6th Aug for 'Wheelpower', based in Stoke Mandeville (the birthplace of the Paralympic movement). I have worked with them when I was teaching and have seen the tremendous work they do to introduce disabled children to sport and physical activity. As you can see from the examples below, what is provided comes at a cost. Please help provide the opportunities in sport for rehabilitation, competition and fun, that I have enjoyed throughout my live for those who have physical impairments.

£25 will allow a disabled child to discover the sport they love at a Sports Camp

£700 will introduce a paralysed adult to disability sport

£3000 is the cost of a sports wheelchair
