Alyssia was 4 months old when she was diagnosed with chILD, we nearly lost her on numerous occasions and the Doctors were puzzled they didn’t know what was wrong she went through so many invasive tests and pain from all the needles and IVS, she had a lung biopsy at the age of 6 months and spent two days in intensive care but she would not let anything stop her she was always smiling and happy they discovered that she had an unknown form of children’s interstitial lung disease and couldn’t really tell us what the future would hold she was oxygen dependent and we thought that she would always need it.

So we were finally sent home after months of living in hospitals with oxygen in tow. She has never let that hold her back from anything then 4 years ago we were allowed to ween her oxygen down till she only needed it at night which took about a year then we had a sleep study in air and we were allowed to ween her off at night too she now only needs oxygen when unwell which is amazing over these past 7 years she grown stronger mentally and physically with unimaginable resilience to what the universe the way her!

We are so so proud of all the obstacles she has over come in her short life and all the set backs she’s had as there are lots of things people take for granted that she was not allowed to do and still not because not only does she have chILD she also has an auto immune deficiency we only found this out a few months ago which mean she picks up infection easy so there was no swimming ,no soft play, no public transport no anything that would put her at risk 

But now we have found that doing swimming lessons in a private pool with fab instructors has boosted her confidence and kept her safe, so now she’s been set a challenge two days before her 8th birthday  of swimming 100m and she wants to doit for all the lung children that are like her so please donate and help this amazing charity that has become our second family with out them we would not have had the knowledge and support that gets us through some very dark times!!
