As many of you will know, there is a very personal reason for wanting to raise money for Sobell House Hospice. In September 2017 we lost someone incredibly dear to us to cancer, Vanda Hayden. It is in her memory that we are organising this expedition to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and raise as much money as we can to support a cause so close to our hearts.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest peak in Africa, and this expedition is estimated to take a total of 10 days to complete. Mount Kilimanjaro is known for being a treacherous and demanding climb; both the terrain and the altitude will make this climb physically and mentally demanding. We will undergo months of training before-hand to ensure we are physically prepared, and will rely on everyone’s support to tackle this challenge mentally. The money we raise for this charity will be a huge motivation and we hope you will support us with your generosity.

Sobell House Hospice Charity Limited aims to raise funds for the benefit of Sobell House Hospice in Oxfordshire. Sobell House delivers palliative care and advice to patients with life limiting diseases, and provides end of life care to patients, whilst supporting their loved ones through an emotionally distressful time. Sobell House Hospice became a home for the entire family during Vanda’s final weeks. The support provided to our family was invaluable and we could not be more grateful that it was available.

The Hospice is jointly funded by Sobell House Hospice Charity and the Oxford University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. They rely upon local communities to raise funds to support the Hospice, to ensure they can continue to provide support for both inpatients and outpatients. With your help and donations, we can ensure those affected by life limiting conditions, and their families, are provided with the support they need at such a difficult time in their lives.
