Fundraising for Moorfields Eye Charity
Story
Early 2012 I got diagnosed with a rare degenerative corneal disorder, (Keratoconus) which eventually will lead to blindness and an eventual need for a corneal transplant!
This initially knocked me for six ofcourse, but once I figured out my Keratoconus was 'manageable' up to a certain point, untill that time that the lights might go 'out' eventually, I can actually say that in certain ways it has enriched my life.
I now regularly bump into things or trip due to depth or width perception issues, drop things as I'm misjudging the edge of a table and have to 'slow down' what I'm doing due to light sensitivity, darkness and shadows, but thanks to some fantastic state-of-the- art super-duper hi-tec 'scleral' contact lenses I manage to have a pretty standard and regular work/ life balance..
Having said all of this, I do think not enough is known about Keratoconus and ways to treat it.
Therefore I have decided to partake in a 14K WALK (as sadly my opthalmologist has told me I'm not allowed to Drive, Cycle or Run anymore)
to raise awareness and funds for Moorfields Eye Hospital, London 's Charity Walk on the 4th of March 2018
