Story

‘Twas a rainy day in deepest darkest Coventry when one of the teams within Kite stumbled unwittingly into the conversation that was to change … well … some things.

The topic of conversation was raising money for charity, and the apparent lack of challenge in a five k run (being up for one in a couple of weeks I’m not sure I agree with that)...

Following a bit of discussion and bandying around of ideas it was Tara, in PR, who tabled the winning idea…of the WOLF run, and then promptly announced she would be elsewhere on the day and unable to participate.

Undeterred, possibly one of the most unfit people in Kite sent out an email looking for people in the Coventry branch to join in.  Cue the most pathetic display of leg clutching, limping and rumbling about old sports injuries seen since, if Ol’ Harry is to be believed, the call up for the 2014 England squad was announced.  However, over much munching of jelly babies, the list of … eager … applicants was finally jimmied up to six and the Kite Pack was born.

For those of you who know as much about the WOLF Run as I did when it was announced, WOLF stands for Woods, Obstacles, Lakes and Fields…and yes you’ve guessed it.  It’s a 10k, mud infested yomp through the backwoods of Warwickshire, with a few rather unnatural constructions in the way…mud pits, cargo nets, the wall…something involving crawling through muddy electrified hay bales or similar (Kite smores anyone?).

The aim is to raise money for Zoe’s Place – a charity providing hospice and respite care for babies and infants aged from birth to five years old who have life limiting or life threatening conditions. They are the only baby specific hospices in the UK and offer palliative, respite and end of life care completely free of charge, providing ongoing support to families.

This is an incredibly worthy cause and we would love to have your support in our endeavours to raise money!
