Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. The children at Gilgil Special School love to play sports and recognise that fresh air and exercise is good for them. They are very grateful for all the fundraising that has been done for them in the past to improve the facilities at the school and in the Kivuli hostels. They would dearly love some basketball nets and have decided to challenge themselves to throw and catch a ball between them as many times as possible without stopping for an hour.

This event will take place on Wednesday 21st February and will be witnessed by the Captain of Kenya's Women's Wheelchair Basketball team as well as staff and pupils from Oundle School.

Please help them to reach their target of £500.

Kivuli Trust (‘kivuli’ meaning shelter in Kiswahili) builds hostels and classrooms on the premises of existing schools in East Africa specifically for children with physical and mental disabilities. Our projects allow for small class sizes where these children will be given the attention that they deserve. The hostels negate the need for long daily journeys to and from the schools and provides the children with a more stable learning environment. Most importantly our projects allow for integration with other school children which provides invaluable disability awareness and understanding at a young age that can then filter back into the wider community.
