For anyone that knows me swimming a mile in open water could end up in calling for the lifeboats! So it was with some trepidation I agreed (was bullied) into signing up for this 1 mile open water swim.
Four weeks ago I started training for this event which is getting frighteningly close. My training consists of seeing a personal trainer 5x per week and training in an outdoor pool 2x per week. In the next week I plan to start training in the Serpentine itself.
I have to be able to complete the mile in under an hour, no easy feat!
So what does a mile of swimming look like? Your everyday pool is 25 metres per length so to swim one mile you would need to do 64 lengths. Add to that that this swim will be in open water, with no sides to hold on to for a rest (arghhh) = lots of training required.
I really need your support to raise these funds for the charity Turn2us.
