As some of you know I am going to be running the Blackpool half marathon on 23rd April, and I would like to run for the Vasculitis UK charity who work so hard for very rare immune system diseases.

A little background information, 11 years ago my sister was very poorly with what we all thought was a sinus infection, each day that went past she got worse, doctors gave her medicine for a sinusitis but this didn’t work. She was tired all the time, her nose was constantly streaming with mucus and blood and she struggled each day trying to work and keep life normal.

Eventually she got very sick and went to see a private consultant who luckily was a specialist in the very rare immune disease Wegners Granulomatosis (the immune system attacks itself), my sister then underwent a series of treatments and steroids until the disease started to go into remission. This consultant quite literally saved her life. She will never be clear of the disease but bravely carries on with life and now has 2 gorgeous children. The disease has reoccurred twice, most recently November 2015 and thanks to the good work of Vasculitis UK she has had different treatments which were not so invasive and enabled her to carry on with her life as fully as she can.

As Vasculitis diseases are so rare they receive little funding and I really would love to give something back, my sister means the world to me and I will be forever thankful to all the good work of this charity.
