Polonius, Hamlet - Act II, scene ii.
In the late 1580s, the godfather of theatre left his home in Stratford-upon-Avon for London. The record of his having arrived there appears seven years later. Question: did he get lost? Did he take a circuitous route - perhaps on the run from his wife and/or his creditors? Was he being pursued by a bear? Or was he just slow on the old pins?
As an invaluable contribution to researching this knotty problem, LAMDA's group of 'travelling players' have agreed to don their walking boots and walk from Stratford-upon-Avon to London to raise funds for the Academy. They will set off from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and hopefully reach Barons Court six days later. On arrival in London the walkers will be greeted by cheering crowds who will accompany them on a final ten mile tour around the capital's historical and theatrical sites, culminating at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
Please join us and support our efforts to secure and refurbish our new home - in benefit of LAMDA our Core Walkers traveled an amazing 140 miles from Stratford to London, and then a big group of LAMDA students, alumni, Board members and friends did a further ten miles around the capital for the cause!
We are SO close to our goal - won't you help us reach it? Any and all donations will be gratfully appreciated! LAMDA also wishes to acknowledge our corporate sponsors for their generous support of the Walk: Walker's Shortbread / Innocent Drinks
