Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!
In a moment of madness, we signed up to Pedal to Paris - a London to Paris cycle in aid of the Royal British Legion. On 1 September 2016, we will be setting off from Greenwich Park in London on a journey of 284 miles (or 460km, if we're being European) ending at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Neither of us are cyclists, unless you count that one time we rented bikes in Copenhagen. However, with the help of some bike shop staff who did not know what had hit them, we are now the proud owners of some lovely bikes and have begun our training. So far, training has involved falling off, getting muddy and having sore bums. I think it's fair to say we've got a long way to go. We both really like croissants and wine though, so we're pretty sure that the thought of arriving in Paris will get us through at least a few of the miles.
The Royal British Legion is a great charity which provides lifelong support to members of the Armed Forces community - serving men and women, veterans and their families. We're hoping to raise £1,800 through sponsorship and would be extremely grateful for any support you can give. We are also more than happy to accept support in the form of cycling buddies, top cycling tips, and carb-loaded meals.
We have paid an entrance fee to cover all accommodation/costs, so please be assured that all donations will go straight to this great cause.
You can follow our progress here on JustGiving, on Facebook, Instagram @caramargs and @als1987, and if you really want to check up on our training, Strava. Just look for the hashtag #lanternesrouges. That's a Tour de France reference - I don't know if you realised it, but we're REALLY into cycling now.
Anything you can spare will be hugely appreciated.
