I started running on my 40th birthday last September and I am loving it. Earlier this year I booked myself a place in the Richmond RUNFEST half marathon to mark my first year of running - handily, the half takes place the day before my birthday/first runniversary.
Right now, the furthest distance I’ve run is 8 miles so the prospect of 13.1 miles is giving me the fear, but fear is good, right? Feel the fear and do it anyway and all that inspirational malarkey.
To help spur me on and to make my first half marathon really special, I’ve decided to raise money for the wonderful Make-A-Wish foundation.
About Make-A-Wish UK
Make-A-Wish UK grant magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. Granting their wish provides seriously ill children with hope for the future, strength to cope and resilience to fight their condition. They’re given quality time away from the daily realities of living with their condition and given the chance to make magical memories they can treasure forever – whatever their future may hold. We want to transform the lives of 1,000 children this year by granting their One True Wish!
