I'm partaking in the Wobbleberries challenge to raise as much money as possible for this amazing cause.

A bit about Chance and our story.

Chance hasn't ever had an easy life, even though he's not long celebrated his 4th birthday he's had to fight really hard to get to where he is now. He was rescued as a foal by a family friend and I've included a picture of him on the day she saved his life by rescuing him.  Chance was so weak he could barely hold his own body weight up he had also sustained some bad injuries. He was lucky enough to be given a Chance *you'll see a theme occur soon... at a normal life with all the necessities your average horse has.

Chances current owner had lost her horse in a tragic accident and contacted Chances then owner for a long overdue coffee and catch up. During the course of this conversation they discussed Chance and his future as she had plans to move down the country. It was at this point Chances current owner took a chance (see told you there'd be a theme appear..) and bought him..and unbroken three old with legs like a giraffe, the mind set of Shetland pony and a soft spot for climbing wheel barrows/electric fencing/stable doors. ..

Weeks and months passed, not without their challenges but Chance really embraced his chance (ha!) at a great start to life, a one he so very much deserved.

Chances owner asked me to come and help school him he needed a lot of help with bending and building muscle up (due to his tragic start) and with full time work and a young family he was falling behind with much needed progress.

Instantly Chance and I clicked and his owners told me often how well behaved he was when I arrived (for being a Shetland stuck in a giraffes body he can cause some mischief when I'm not around) and the decision was made that my riding him would become a permanent arrangement.

Chance and I enjoyed lots of activities this summer and he was getting stronger and braver just on the cusp of finally 'making it' and getting to a point where his past had been forgotten he was struck down with uveitis in July. Uveitis is a dangerous condition, which if not managed correctly can lead to blindness. We on chances support team (his owners, myself and his previous owners) were devastated at the prospect of such a genuine lovely young horse losing his sight and living with a painful lifelong condition like this. Managing his condition aggressively  we got the uveitis  under control and some fetching masks were purchased to protect his eyes (think robocop in horse form) and thankfully he has been flare up free so far. Chance has to go two years without a flare up before he's classed as cured.

When his owners saw the wobbleberries challenge they excitedly explained what an amazing charity it was for and on that basis I couldn't say no! I'm no big fan of jumping and Chance is quite probably one of the wobbliest horses you will meet..we are currently working on cantering... and can trot in a large circle now! (Something I'm particularly proud of). This challenge is a genuine challenge for my horse who is greener than grass...but with the heart of a lion.

we are so very proud to be part of something much bigger  than either of us contributing to an amazing charity.

Please give as much or as little as you can and cheer on myself and Chance.

About the charity

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.
