In December 2019, Kevin and Kelsey visited the MSPCA in Jamaica Plain (the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). At the cat adoption center there, we opened a door and Legato immediately leaped into our arms as well as our hearts. 

Over the last 3 and a half years, Legato has filled our lives with overflowing happiness. Legato kept us sane through the long Pandemic, as our companion on many a walk to the nearby park (Spy Pond), as a calming presence keeping Kelsey company through long nights of studying for her Master's degree, or watching over Kevin during long days of working from home. Legato took care of her humans and house with utmost pride, greeting us at the door whenever we returned home, bringing us her mouse toys as gifts, commiserating with us when we were sad, and telling us off with meows when we stayed up too late at night! While some cats might prefer to keep to themselves, Legato had a special bond with her humans and was never far away from them whenever they were at home. Legato loved music (especially Kevin singing to her), lapping up tomato soup, laying outside in the grass, and doing her tricks (especially high five and shake). Above all though, she loved nothing more than the admiration from her two humans, and we are so thankful for all the joy that she brought to us.

Her sudden and unexpected loss in June 2023 from kidney failure has left us heart broken and devastated with irreparable loss. We will remember her forever, but also wanted to memorialize her life with a donation to the adoption center where we were lucky enough to first meet her. All donations in Legato's Memory will go to the cat adoption center at the MSPCA in Jamaica Plain, MA. It is our hope that many others find a companion here, just as we did.
