I have an uncommon heart condition called Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome and it is my wish to both raise awareness of this condition and raise funds towards research for the British Heart Foundation Scotland.

 

When diagnosed I was a competitive Time Trial and race cyclist covering distances from 10 to 100 miles and 12 hour endurance events. Then one day at work I experienced sudden violent heart palpitations and blacked out - it lasted only a few seconds but I was rushed to our local hospital, given an ECG then told I had a heart abnormality; a tiny little extra spike showed on my heart rhythm - classic confirmation for Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome , a diagnoses that tore apart my dreams, ambitions and my life as it was then. I turned things around and in 2009 I completed LEJOG raising funds for the BHF and now for the Guinness World Record LEJOGLE Solo Cycle Record.
