Story
Hi,
So i decided last year that i wanted to push myself and in the process raise money for charity by completing a number of solo endurance challenges.
I've decided the first challenge i want to undertake is the Revolve24 at Brands Hatch on the 15th September. The aim is for participants to ride as many laps of the circuit as possible in 24 hours. Although this event is mainly ridden in teams of 4 or 2 riders I've decided to do it solo!
I have no idea how far I'll ride, and it will largely depend on how my body reacts to a lack of sleep, but I'm provisionally aiming for 430km (267.19 Miles) and will be happy if i am on the bike moving for 15+ hours. I'm hoping more than anything that this event will be a learning experience for me and my future challenges.
I've chosen to raise money for Young Minds.
For those who don't know I've suffered with depression since my early teens and I have been suicidal, attempting to take my own life on two occasions.
I live with it everyday and as a result have learnt to hide it from others and keep it private. There is no cure and every single person who has depression is unique. I'm fortunate enough to be in a position to receive the help i need, but many don't and Young Minds is a charity which provides mental health support to Children and Adolescents whom are suffering through life's challenges.
I'll post regular updates on my training and on the day of the event over on my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cycling_lion/
Any donations, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Leo (cycling_lion)
