Story
On 21st September we will be undertaking the full Tough Mudder Classic Challenge in West Sussex to raise money for a very important
cause: to fundraise for Kit’s Fund in memory of Kit Mallinson.
As many of you will be aware, Leo’s nephew Kit died tragically age 18 whilst on his gap year in Cambodia on 13th December 2016. Prior to travelling in Cambodia, Kit had spent 7 weeks as a volunteer with
Raleigh International in Malaysian Borneo, where he completed a 17-day jungle trek and then helped lay pipework in the rain forest to get clean water to the remote community of Kalampun.
Kit had an incredible time on Expedition, and we are challenging ourselves to raise £5000 so we can give another young person the
opportunity to have the experience Kit had. Kit’s Fund supports Raleigh’s Bursary Programme which provides places for young people from low-income and marginalised backgrounds to undertake a 10-week International Expedition, giving them the chance to gain skills and experiences, and to grow in confidence, while volunteering in a structured and sustainable development programme.
You can find more about Kit’s Fund here.
So what is Tough Mudder? Here's an explanation from the website:
Epic is an understatement. We’re pulling out all the stops for this return to our roots and making 2019 a season to remember. Tough Mudder Classic is 8-10 miles of mud-soaked mayhem absolutely loaded with 25 best-in-class obstacles and 10 new or updated 2019 obstacles on Every. Single. Course. That’s right - we’re bringing you double-digit innovation and more obstacles than ever.

Pictures of some of the obstacles are in the page gallery but 'highlights' include the 'Arctic Enema', 'Cage Crawl' and the infamous 'Electroshock Therapy'. It's a full on endurance event and a hell of a challenge for a bunch of 44 year old out of shape guys like us. We did the 5km challenge in May and it nearly killed us. But with your support (donations!) I know we will pull through for Kit and raise funds for the Raleigh Bursary in his memory.
We’ll be updating you all on our journey getting fit and ready for the challenge as we go. Keep checking back to see how we’re getting
on!
