 Motor Neurone Disease does not discriminate! You can be old or young, active or sedentary. It hits, and it hits hard!  Listening to the words  “Your test results show that you’ve got MND”, was, for my  wife and I, the most crushing of blows.  Rightly or wrongly, we decided not to tell the children. It was 12 months before we sat them down and gave them the devastating news. That meant though, that for those 12 months  we, as a couple, rarely discussed my illness.. We did not access the help that was available from the MNDA, nor did we access the support from friends and family.  Going public about my diagnosis had a dramatic impact on our perspective on things. We allowed ourselves to talk about it, and allowed ourselves to become part of the MNDA community.  It was only then that we realised the amazing work that these people do. They have already had a significant impact on our lives, but in truth, they could not do it without your help. 

For the last few months,, I have worked closely with the Association to help raise awareness about this devastating disease. Raising funds is vital, not only for continued research into the cause of MND, but also to provide those with MND to have the standard of living that they deserve.
