Story

"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain."

Bob Marley 1945 - 1981

On Thursday 16th June 7.00pm at The Bedford, Balham there will be live music and speeches to raise funds and awareness for Mind. The UK's leading mental health charity.

We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem as well as campaigning to improve our community services, raise awareness and promote understanding to cater for and support the 1 in 4 people in the UK who experience a mental health problem each year.

Along with special guest speakers and a warm welcome and introduction from Alastair Smith-Agbaje (CEO Mind Lambeth & Southwark) warming us all up, we have South London singer songwriter, KIERAN who will thrill us with his beautiful voice on a few much loved songs as well as NOAH FENTON promoting his recently released self penned EP ‘AUBURN’. Currently available on Spotify.

With the best live music covers, we have BRICKWORK - who firmly blew the roof off at our last charity fundraiser.

Headlining, we proudly welcome back MAROON TOWN an 8 piece powerhouse of ska, rap soul and reggae who have plied their irresistible show from Buenos Aires to Brixton from Kingston to Kazakhstan with their latest single making it onto Radio 6's Mr Soul and Funk, Craig Charles best singles of 2021.

For inclusion on the guest list, donate on the GIVE NOW tab below and simply leave your full name and number of guests, along with your kind donation of a minimum of £12 per person.

See you on the dancefloor and thank you for reading.

Love,
Jo

About the charity

We're a local mental health charity that are doing things differently. We aim to be an organisation that responds sensitively and thoughtfully to people with mental health problems; that understands that mental health problems are deeply entrenched in the inequalities and deprivations of class, race, gender and sexuality. We don’t believe that these problems can be treated by a ‘one size fits all’ approach, but instead need a unique and ethical response to the individual needs of each person. We aim to respond to high levels of need in the Lambeth adn Southwark boroughs by offering a range of services so people can choose the support that feels right for them. Currently, we run a free inner city psychotherapy service for people who haven't found short term CBT type treatments helpful. We run a number of peer support groups. We have an information line for those seeking advice. We're on wards making sure impatients have a voice too. We hold annual lectures with industry experts to explore recent develops. We're out and about in the local community listening to what people need.
