Story
I'm running the Brighton Marathon on Sunday! THAT IS SO SOON! I'm never running a marathon again because who honestly has four consecutive hours in a day to do long training runs. Seriously.
I'm raising money for Mind because experiences of mental distress, and psychiatric services, have been a big part of my life, and the lives of the people I love. I'm marking two years out of hospital this April, and I wouldn't have made it here without the help of friends, family, mental health services and charities like Mind. They even let me make a video and write a blog for them: http://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/your-stories/he-she-they-it/#.VwzUa6QrLIU
I am incredibly lucky. My recovery has so little to do with personal strength, and so much to do with the resources and support that surrounds me. So many people don't receive the support they need or deserve: mental health services sit at the sharp end of the cuts, we are constantly fighting stigma and discrimination, and the changes and cuts to the benefits system have had a devastating effect. I'm running to support the work Mind does in all these areas.
