We campaign, support and fund research to stop people dying of bowel cancer

Story

Whilst most people will be planning to relax over the bank holiday weekend, my superstar (and slightly bonkers) dad and sister (Michael and Cathy) will be runnning in a 145 mile long race along the Grand Union Canal from Birmingham to London: Grand Union Canal 145 mile Race (GUCR) 2022 | Canalrace C.I.C.

I will be part of their support crew along with mum, Philip, Heather and Tom.

As many of you will know, dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2020.  He had surgery to remove the tumour and chemotherapy to mop up other cancer cells.  In 2021 (just after he'd managed to run the London marathon...again) a follow up CT scan found that the cancer had spread to his liver.  He had a liver section to remove the tumour and now here he is back to his usual tricks undertaking crazy challenges and roping in my sister in the process!

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. They're here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
