Different strokes are a charity that provide support for young stroke survivors.
Their new website gives lots of info on what they are all about, but my patients tell me that they are a group of people that provide invaluable advice and support to them after a stroke: http://www.differentstrokes.co.uk
I have come across this charity from my work as a neurologcial physio and have seen how each of my patients have to 'climb mountains' on their rehabilitation journey after stroke. This is why I have chosen to raise money for them when I decided to take on the Mont-blanc marathon challenge.
The Mont-blanc Marathon is a full distance marathon, starting in Chamonix, France. The run has a positive vertical gain of 2511 metres (which sounds fun!!). If you know me, you will know I have a habit of taking on mountains, having climbed Kilimanjaro....however, I have yet to 'run' up one! Please dig deep and support this charity that give vital support to helping young people cope and recover from such a debilitating illness.
Check out the marathon site if you want to see what I am about to take on at: http://www.montblancmarathon.net/en/races/mont-blanc-marathon
