Story

In 2015 I lost my wonderful Dad to melanoma after a short battle and a diagnosis of a brain tumour he sadly passed away age 59 on 18th November 2015.

Since his passing  I’ve raised just over £14,000 for Farleigh Hospice and Cancer Research. My aim is to now raise 30, 000 for a mole mapping machine to go into Colchester general hospital. I’ve got a few events this year going on already but I wanted something that challenged me a bit more as most of my family and friends already know I was  diagnosed with stage 1 melanoma in December 2018. I got the all clear in April from my WLE. unfortunately melanoma has hit my family twice and I’m determined to help raise awareness for it and show , tell people the dangers of too much UV can be deadly.

Me and my husband will start from Bethnal Green in east London where I grew up as a child and have the best memories with my dad and walk all the way back to Essex. This is roughly an 18 hour walk but we are not setting a time to do it but we are saying WE WILL complete it!! We will walk through the night and obviously stop for food and drink but THATS IT!!

It’s a 30 plus mile trip and along the way we would love anyone who wanted to join us even for 2,3,5 miles to give us that extra push! It’s not going to be easy but we are determined to do it and raise more awareness for melanoma.

About the charity

Melanoma UK was set up in 2007 in memory of Jon Herron. We support patients and families affected by melanoma (skin cancer) and funds raised help to provide that support. We are funding much needed melanoma nurses along with help in vital research. Melanoma is a cruel disease, still without a cure.
