Liverpool Women's is one of only two specialist Trusts in the UK and the largest in Europe. Each year it delivers 8000 babies, undertakes 10000 gynaecological procedures and takes care of 1000 pre term babies in it's Neonatal Unit.
Liverpool Women's Charity is known as Kitty. It raises funds for all areas of the hospital to provide additional equipment and services not normally provided by the NHS.
This is the first ever joint fundraising adventure undertaken by Liverpool Women's and Birmingham Women's. On 21st June 20 members of staff from across Liverpool Women's will leave Birmingham Women's to cycle the 110 miles back to Liverpool. At the same time staff from Birmingham Women's will be leaving Liverpool Women's to cycle back to Birmingham. All cyclists will be raising money for their particular chosen area of the hospital.
Staff from Liverpool include nurses from gynaecology, maternity and Neonatal along with staff from the Finance Office, Estates, Communications, P.A's and Catering. We even have the Lady Mayoress of Liverpool joining us.
Ranges of cycling experience of staff taking part vary from very experienced to beginner. Many didn't have bikes or hadn't ridden since childhood! All have had to undertake fitness and cycling assessments through BikeRight! to be allowed to take part in the event and all are training and fundraising hard in their own right.
This is the official Team Kitty Just Giving page so that people who don't personally know our cyclists can still support them. If you would like your donation going to a specific area in the hospital simply leave your choice in the comments box when you donate and I Will personally ensure that it goes there. To contact me directly you can email firstname.lastname@example.org, call on 0151 702 4044 or log on to www.the kitty.org
