Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and supporting my cause. This year I’ve set myself a new challenge of Climbing Europe’s highest peak – Mount Elbrus, to raise money for MAD-Aid. This page is completely non-profit, all pledges made will go directly towards the charity.
At the end of July I will be climbing Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe, and one of the "Seven Summits" - the highest mountain on each continent. At 5,642 metres (18,510 ft), it is the tenth most prominent mountain in the world, and is located in the Caucasus Mountains on the Russian/Georgian border.
This isn't going to be an easy challenge, stepping out of my comfort zone and into more technical climbing, using crampons, ice axes and ropes. Camping in conditions that can reach -30 degrees C, while struggling with loss of oxygen from higher altitudes and pushing myself to reach the summit at 5642m. All to raise money for the Medical Aid Delivery program (MAD-Aid).
The Medical Aid Delivery program (MAD-Aid) is a UK-registered charity. The charity founder, Victoria Dunford, was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s 2017 New Year Honour list for services to children with special needs in northern Moldova. The Charity operates the Phoenix Centre in the city of Riscani (Moldova) which transforms the lives of children with special needs through education, activities, therapies and more. MAD-Aid also collects equipment that British hospitals no longer need and delivers it to Moldovan hospitals where the need is strong. To date, MAD-Aid has delivered and distributed over 500 wheelchairs, offered independence to 500 adults and children in Moldova. Yet 1,500 more in need are waiting. For a mere £35.00, you can donate a Wheelchair!
Any amount would be hugely appreciated, no donation is too small.
Thank you for your time and your donation.
