Lizzie’s Quarantine Biking Challenge
60 day Quarantine Personal Biking Challenge to raise money for the Hygiene Bank. Matched by supporter CW in every mile.
I have paralysed legs due to long-term multiple sclerosis so I am a permanent wheelchair user. However I can cycle between 5 and 7 kilometres a day using an active / passive motorised exercise bike (Motomed).
Normally I would only do this about 3 times a week to get minimal exercise and release pain and spasms. During the 60 days I expect to be at home because of Covid 19 risks I will be challenging myself to cycle 7- 10 km actively every day to raise money for The Hygiene Bank.
This is a charity that fights hygiene poverty by providing hygiene / personal care items to those in need throughout the UK. A reason for choosing this charity is that we have just experienced a glimpse of what it could be like to be without the products we need to maintain our hygiene. However the Covid 19 virus could push more people into hygiene poverty.
My targets are the minimum distance I will cycle and to allow for any days I am ill I will have to catch up by doing more on the other days. I can use periods of passive cycling to help me meet my goals. However only the active biking distance is relevant to my target. This is very meaningful challenge for me. Please sponsor me to meet my targets. The following are guideline suggestions only as you can sponsor for any amount.
Level 1 Suggested Sponsorship Target 240 kilometres during April £10 - £12 suggested
Level 2 Suggested Sponsorship 480 kilometres during April and May £20 suggested
Bonus Sponsorship 600 kilometres during April and May £26 suggested
I will keep you updated on my progress. Of course I am also asking you to maintain faith in my ability to stay healthy and well. My challenge will run from April 1st - 30th May 2020 Distance is recorded by my machine and my husband will monitor my achievement.
