Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Following the success of the cake bake sale at Sudbury Town and Ealing Common in December 2018, London Underground staff on the Piccadilly Line West are swapping their hi-vis and safety boots for trainers this June and taking on an incredible 12 mile night walk across a number of London’s iconic bridges.

Starting at Albert Bridge, the team of 16 will walk the 12 mile scenic route across 12 of London’s bridges, including, Westminster Bridge, Waterloo Bridge and ending their challenge by crossing Tower Bridge. The walk will raise much needed funds for Northwick Park Hospital’s (NPH) tiniest patients in the Neonatal ward.

More than 250 premature babies are born and treated at NPH's neonatal unit every year. This includes babies who have difficulty in breathing and babies whose mothers might have been unwell during their pregnancy. There are three sections to the ward – ICU, Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) or High Dependency Unit (HDU). It is staffed by doctors and nurses who are specially trained in the care of the newborns experiencing health issues.

Having a sick newborn or premature baby that requires intensive care can be a very emotional time for parents and loved ones. NPH's neonatal unit ensures that these babies in need have the best possible start in life and provides parents will the tools and support to care for their new additionAll services and care are provided round-the-clock.

THANK YOU! Thank you so much for visiting our page. With your help, we can make a tangible difference to the lives of newborn and premature babies who are being cared for at NPH.
