"Whilst I have heard of Macmillan for many years, you always think that all charities are for someone else’s benefit until it happens to you and your family.
Sadly, my Dad passed away nearly 6 years ago having been diagnosed with lung cancer only 9 months earlier. The support that Macmillan provided to both my parents was so welcome, which included driving Dad to his chemotherapy as well as assistance for my mum with financial matters.
Having supported Macmillan on other events, this is one that physically puts me to the test with 4 rounds of golf & 20+ miles of walking in one day – I am just hoping that it stays dry! I am sure this will be my first of many Macmillan Longest Golf Days.”

"Macmillan do great work and are so professional. My sister was helped enormously by them toward the end of last year and ultimately she lost her fight in January. I can’t do anything for Macmillan other than try to raise a few pounds to help them help others in the same place as my sister. Please help me do that."

"My mum passed away early this year following complications after surgery after her brave fight with cancer of the Oesophagus. It was the first time that I had seen anybody go through this, especially someone I was so close to and it was a harsh learning curve to see how this affected her life, even though at the time when she was diagnosed, the prognosis was very good and it is heart-breaking to think that so many people go through this every day.
This Charity is something that is very close to my heart as I have seen what people go through when they are diagnosed with cancer and how important it is to have that support network.
In most cases cancer is not a death sentence and whilst my mum had the comfort of me and Dad and all her friends, a lot of people don’t have this support and anything that helps people and their families get through this and maintain a quality of life is well worth supporting."

My mum was diagnosed 3 years ago with cancer in both lungs.
After 2 operations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy she has now been given the all clear !
The people at Macmillan were amazing .Whether it was helping her with the day to day dealing with cancer or just a friendly person to speak to.
I’m sure lots of us have had friends /family members that have been touched with the work that Macmillan do.
I look forward to raising lots of money for this great cause.
