Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have undergone multiple surgeries and rehabilitation following a brain tumour discovery and removal in 2010. Physically I have made a fantastic recovery and have managed to raise significant funds through half Ironman triathlons for various brain tumour charities. (Thank you)
Mentally however is a very different story. I have fairly recently been diagnosed with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Amongst other changes this explains my long standing erratic sleep pattern, my continual need to do everything yesterday and imagining there may be no tomorrow! It is quite a journey and I am being managed and treated through counselling, hypnotherapy and EMDR therapy. It is a tough one but I am definitely making good progress. The impact that the mental health issues have had on me are both surprising and really quite astounding. We do not give enough attention and respect to mental health and its consequences . I really want to raise the profile of mental health, reduce it’s stigma and most importantly raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.
That’s why I am completely nuts embarking on this 2 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and to finish it off a 26 mile marathon! So go on...dig deep and support this nutter!
