After 29 years of NHS service in Formby as a GP, I am retiring. This has been brought forward due to my husband Tony being diagnosed with tongue cancer this year. My children and I are keen to raise money for Aintree Head and Neck Cancer Unit as a thank you for the outstanding treatment he has received. We hope you will be able to help us, and thank you for any donation.
Feb 28:
Many thanks to everyone for all your donations. We have received so many donations to the Justgiving site and to a cash bucket at the surgery-from family, friends, patients, Formby businesses, and Formby Choral Society.
We successfully jumped today despite unpromising grey misty weather and after arriving at 07.00 we had a cold, tense, 5 hr wait. The winds were stronger than expected but we still managed the 11.000 feet jump. It was hugely exhilarating-the biggest challenge was trying to breathe in such strong winds! We got blown off course, to land in a quagmire and scramble over barbed wire carrying the shute, before safe return to base!!
A hot bath and celebratory glass of wine was very much needed and appreciated after a long day.
However mission accomplished, and we have raised over £4,500, so many thanks for your
help. Any further donations are still very welcome-
best wishes- all the Tammadge family

Finally, job accomplished. We presented a final sum of £6,012 to the Head and Neck Cancer
Unit at Aintree Hospital, on Mar 30 in Chapel Lane Surgery, including a donation of £1,000 from
the Hemby Trust. We have been so impressed with everyone's response and generosity, and
feel very relieved that the whole episode has run smoothly- weather excepted!!-and now can
relax a little, and enjoy some free time and retirement. Our thanks again to everyone for all their
support.
