Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In July 1997 my grandfather lost his battle with lung cancer. Prior to becoming ill he was the fun loving, life and soul of the party. He was my favourite person on the planet and is sadly missed each day.
Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK, with almost 50,000 diagnosis' between 2015 and 2017. Sadly the survival rate is poor at around 10%.
Not all lung cancers are associated with smoking and a startling amount of women under fifty who have never smoked are diagnosed each year. Roy Castle's Lung Cancer Foundation are working hard to raise awareness around this misconception in order to avoid missed opportunities for that all important early diagnosis in there Like Me campaign.
Your money could go towards the awareness campaign to help save lives, it could go toward supporting someone living with Lung Cancer, or to essential research into preventions and treatment.
As for me, I started running four months ago and recently completed c25k. It has been eighteen years or so since I last run 10k in one go! I'm terrified! So please spur me on by giving a few quid to this worthy and greatly underfunded cause!
Thank you!
Lucy
