Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Many of you may have seen the recent Iceland advert highlighting the massive environmental issue regarding Palm Oil in Borneo. This issue has been ongoing for many years now causing catastrophic effects.

Like us, before we went to Borneo we had no idea what palm oil even was. We now know its literally in every product from crisps and chocolate to household and beauty products. Palm oil labelling can be deceptive - Anything with the word palm in it is best to stay away from e.g. 'palmytil alcohol, palm kernel oil, octyl palmitate etc.

To see first hand the huge areas of rainforest that have been cut down is devastating. We visited the Sepilok rehabilitation centre which cares for orphaned oragutans and we want to support the amazing work they are doing. The Orangutan Appeal UK is dedicated to the rehabilitation and preservation of orangutans and the conservation of their habitat.

To raise money we are climbing Mera Peak in the Himalayas which is 6,476 m (21,247 ft) high! It's the highest either of us have climbed and it's a tough three week expedition.

Please donate what you can - 100% of the money goes straight to the charity and will make a massive difference!
