Story
On 15th April myself and Roisin will be walking 160km of the Camino de Santiago. We would love to raise whatever we can to help refugees and displaced people from around the world.
Watching the events unfold in Ukraine has at times made me feel powerless, wishing there was something we could do to help. Four million people have lost their homes and been forced to flea their country due to the atrocities of war. The stories and images coming from Ukraine have given a sense of humanity to the global and politicised issue of Refugees.
That's why we have chosen to support Choose Love. They help people to start a new life in safety after leaving everything behind and risking their lives.
Choose Love works globally with local organisations to get the support and materials they need on the ground. Whether that's funding, material aid or volunteers. They also work directly with people in need by providing food, shelter, lifesaving search and rescue boats, medical care, legal support and helping to reunite families.
By donating:
- £5 you can buy emergency response essentials like emergency blankets and waterproof ponchos.
- £10 Essential wash items - including sanitary products for women.
- £25 Will support an unaccompanied child.
- £40 Can reunite a family or be used for emergency medical support.
All items purchased by Choose Love are bought locally to support the local economy and for less impact on the environment.
Although we aren't taking on the Camino as a charity fundraiser, it will definitely be a challenge! If you are able to donate to the amazing work that Choose Love does to support Refugees from around the world we would be ever so grateful.
