In August I will be climbing 3 mountains (Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike) in 3 days to raise money for Beat SCAD. As people may know, my Mum had a heart attack due to a Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) in March last year. SCAD is a rare disease, most common among young-middle aged women. Those affected normally present none of the normal risk factors of heart disease. The cause of SCAD is unknown and so it can't be predicted or prevented. Research is relatively new and as for most rare diseases funding for research is hard to come by.
Beat SCAD is a patient-led charity that offers support to patients and their families, raises awareness of SCAD and raises funds for research into the condition, you can read more about it here: https://beatscad.org.uk/.
