Story

Dear friends,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

By now you all know about my love/obsession with horses. What started out four years ago as a form of exercise once a week turned into a passion when I realized riding is so much different from other sports because you have a living, breathing partner who is ten times your weight, yet is so giving and trusting and allows you, the much weaker human to take charge. Horses are amazing creatures and through riding I have learned so much about love, trust, perseverance, and so much more.

This riding challenge is organized by the British Horse Society (BHS) to which I am an active member. In the course of the challenge we will be spending an average of 5.5 hrs in the saddle everyday, covering a distance of 240km in varied terrains in the Alpujarra region in southern Spain. We will also be camping in the wilderness for 3 nights. Yes, no glamping, but camping for real this time!

So why am I dong this riding challenge? The bigger goal is to raise funds for the welfare division of the BHS so they can provide assistance to horses in distress or in abusive environments. But on a personal level, I want to challenge myself to ride like the pioneers rode, to prove to myself that I can rough it out, if it's for a worthy cause.
