Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 4th May 2022 I will set off from Eastbourne and cycle 75 miles a day for 4 days! Our route takes us to Dover - Calais, Abbeville, Beauvais and into Paris.
My Mum, Ivy Elsey, was a Scout Leader across Sussex and internationally and a Teacher at Maynards Green School. She lived in Broad Oak, Heathfield for over 50 years.
In the spring of 2018, she became terminally ill with COPD. She desperately wanted to die at home. The Hospice community nurse specialist worked with the NHS community team, GP and home care services to support her wish. Mum had a week as an inpatient to manage her symptoms and felt totally at peace.
For the last 10 days of her life, I was able to care for her at home with community support and the 24 hour hospice nurse line. They were always just one call away; supporting and guiding me and liaising with other professionals, night or day. Mum died at home, on 27th July 2018.
The Nurse line is a vital part of the hospice service. Please support my challenge so that others can be helped, as my Mum and I were at such a critical time.
I am paying for my adventure myself so every penny you give will go to the hospice.
Thank you
