On Sunday 15th April I'm running my second marathon. This time I'm tackling the 26.2 miles in Brighton with a target time of 3 hours and 40 minutes (28 minutes faster than I completed the Virgin London Marathon in 2011).
I dedicated my first marathon and the training that preceded it to the memory of my dad who sadly lost his battle with cancer in the summer of 2010:
In the process of taking on these running challenges I'm delighted to raise valuable funds for 'Help the Hospices'. Dad spent his final days at the St. Leonard's Hospice in York. The team at St Leonards provided the best combination of services to care for dad's needs while offering valuable support to me, my mum and sister at a very difficult time for all of us.
Palliative care affirms life and regards dying as a normal process, gives relief from pain, and supports patients in every possible way, by helping them to live life as fully as possible, however long they may have left to live. Hospices throughout the UK aim to maintain dignity, and to support families and carers during and after the illness.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to 'Help the Hospices' and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
