We are one of the leading centres in the UK for minimally invasive surgery - but we are now at the absolute limit of what we can do with our existing equipment. We need to invest in a surgical robot.

Story

Hi, thanks for taking some time to visit and read our JustGiving page!

Last year, Laura Flackett (wife to Marc, sister to Anna), was told she had a faulty heart valve and was referred to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH).

During her appointments before the operation the surgeon also discovered she had an aneurysm in her heart that was worryingly close to rupturing.

On the day of Laura's operation the surgeon discovered the aneurysm had actually begun bleeding among some other unforeseen complications. Through sheer skill the surgeon and her team managed to fix everything without incident and Laura could start the long road to recovery.

Laura stayed at LHCH for just under two weeks and the care that staff gave her was second to none. Marc stayed close to Laura the entire time thanks to the Robert Owen House, a charity-dependent accommodation opposite the main building that allows family of patients to stay for a very small fee. They were very accommodating to any visitors and did their best to make sure Laura was comfortable and getting the care she needed before allowing her home.

How Laura would have coped without the staff at the LHCH doesn't bare thinking about. We are forever in their debit!

When little Dylan Wyn heard that his Mam and Dad were running for his Aunty 'Auz he wanted to join in to! A feat made all the more remarkable for him as he was born with Talipes and has had to wear a corrective boot for the first years of his life. We never thought we would see him run and now we will - to raise money for the fantastic hospital that saved his special auntie!
