I am hosting this event to raise money for the amazing charity that is Amy and Friends - Cockayne Syndrome Support.

Amy and Friends was formed  to support children and families suffering from Cockayne Syndrome.

Cockayne Syndrome is a premature ageing disorder that means the DNA cannot repair itself and therefore leads to a shortened life expectancy (approximately 12 years). There is currently no cure. 

I first found out about the charity when the daughter of friends of mine was diagnosed with the disorder when she was 6 years old. They also suffered the further blow of discovering that their unborn child also tested positive for Cockayne Syndrome. They have a son who is not affected but may be a carrier.
