We house and support homeless young women to help them have a sucessful start in life

Story

Marsha Phoenix Memorial Trust is a supported housing facility housing homeless young women aged 16 to 21 in Brockley, South East London.

It is a small, locally- based, independent charity and as such, they rely on all sorts of fundraising to keep their project going and able to provide a range of extra services to help support the young women they house towards finding the skills they need to live more independently and overcome the barriers in their lives.

One thing they do is provide a food service and a cook so daily hot meals and breakfast can provide a routine, a healthy diet, food when incomes are low and a sense of community.

MPMT believe a healthy regular diet allows their young people to go out and achieve in the world be it education, work or volunteering.

They usually fundraise each year to keep this aspect to the service going with a Fun Run Community event, but Covid19 issues have impacted this negatively for 2 years now. They hope to put anything raised by our event towards this important aspect of our work.

Their founder Sybil Phoenix (MBE, OBE MS ) will be 94 on 21st June 2021 and when more active she used her birthday both as a celebration and as a fundraising event for the Trust.

It is therefore so apt that this event is taking place on this special day and we are honoured to offer our support.
