Story

It's safe to say that we have all had enough of 2020 and all of the hardship, difficulties and stress that the Pandemic has brought. Life for many of has changed significantly. Many of us cut off from loved ones and facing worries that we didn't see on the horizon at the beginning of the year.

We want you to put your best foot forward with us and head towards a brighter future and 2021 and support a fantastic charity at the same time.

Mallusk Harriers have chosen Lighthouse as our Club Charity Partner for 2020-21.

Lighthouse is an organisation committed to the prevention of suicide and self-harm; the promotion of positive mental health and the provision of support services to families who have been bereaved due to suicide.

This year more than ever, we want to make a difference and help those around us negotiate through these difficult times. One thing is for sure, COVID-19 has impacted on us all. Some in more ways that others but there is no doubt that this pandemic will leave many people vulnerable to mental health problems and suicidal behaviour.

These are extraordinary times and it is so important not only
that we do everything we can for our own mental health and wellbeing but we do as much as we can to help those who are vulnerable in our society.

This pandemic has caused many problems, financial stresses,
job losses, bereavement, isolation, domestic violence which can all lead to suicidal thoughts. Across the world, one person dies of suicide every 40 seconds. In our corner of the world, suicide has become an all to familiar reason for the loss of life.

Now more than ever charities need our help, Charities such
as Lighthouse. Lighthouse is a local charity delivering “a beacon of hope for people affected by suicide and self-harm” As our charity partner for this year, we want to support the positive work that they do across our community and try to raise funds to help to be able to deliver their services where they are so desperately needed.

We want to try and raise as much fund as possible for Lighthouse, can you help?

The event is simple, anyone can take part. All you have to
do is register through our just giving page, then pledge a distance that you will run, walk, hop, skip or jump during the 1st of December until the 1st of January. It is entirely up to you how you cover the distance, but the main part is that you get active. You can sign up as many of your family members and friends as you can and spread your support to those around you who need it.  If you want to help raise more funds, you an
donate this through the just giving page too.

Stay safe everyone, have fun along the path and keep smiling,
moving forward. Brighter days are ahead.
