Story

On 4th October 2019, myself and Paul will board a plane to head to Trek the Great Wall of China.  Before I go any further, let me stop right there. Any of you that know me well, will know that I have only been on a couple of holidays in the last 8 years purely because I am terrified of flying. So thats worth sponsoring me for in the first place!

However when we land we will be trekking for a full week along the Great Wall. This is by no means a lavish holiday. You may think I am fit. I am strong yes, but cardio fit, no. In the lead up to this trek I will need to train lots and strengthen my weak knee. Some of the days are 8 hours long and some of the steeper parts of the trek are 85 degrees steep!
It will be a challenge!

Also I love my food and will have to deal with rations! I don’t know what’s going to be the hardest challenge... the trek, the flight or the lack of food 😂

**********************************************

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far, we’ve had aerial playgrounds, I’ve walked over fire, I’ve gone dry for two whole months.

Here's a reminder why I raise money for St Catherine's.

The team at St Catherine's made my mum smile, even laugh, in her last few months. When she found out, unexpected, that she had weeks to live, she decided she wanted her end of life care at home.

St Catherine's helped make this happen. We took time off work and all looked after her to make sure she got what she wanted.

The staff at St Catherine's were amazing with home visits and support. My mum, who was quite a quiet private person, warmed to their kindness and looked forward to their visits. Her face would light up when she knew that Leonie was visiting.

They also offered support for us after mum had gone.

That's just a snippet of the work they do.

It costs £11,500 for a full day of services, it costs £6,000 a day for the in-patients unit, £995 is the cost for a syringe driver to help manage pain more efficiently. Just a few of the costs involved. St Catherine's needs donations and every little helps.

I know a lot of people ask for donations, but if you can please just donate a small amount - every penny is appreciated.

Thanks for you reading this
