Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I marked my 50th year on this planet with a special challenge. Thanks to a global pandemic, instead of finishing to a crowd of thousands at Pall Mall, I ran my first marathon along the Rochdale Canal, with a fantastic bespoke support cheering and running crew as I participated in the Virtual London Marathon in October 2020.
This year on 3rd October 2021, I will be embarking on the actual London Marathon with the support of my guide runner, Donna Siberry, to fundraise in aid of Royal National Institute of Blind People.
I was born with an eye condition, Optic Atrophy, and I am registered severely sight impaired. As a teenager I attended RNIB New College Worcester, a specialist school for blind and partially sighted people. I left believing that there were no limits to what I could achieve. 5 years ago, I was recruited by RNIB as a Regional Campaigns Officer for Yorkshire and Humber. I am passionate about my role and proud to have helped achieve positive changes to policy to improve equality of access for blind and partially sighted people in the region.
We have continued to train throughout 2021, both apart and together and we hope to get a marathon PB!
If you would like to support me and Donna smash through the barriers that stop people with sight loss thriving, come and cheer us on or any donation large or small will be gratefully received.
Thank You!
