I am very pleased to announce that I will be running the 2018 London Marathon, in memory of a friend and colleague, and to raise money for a fantastic cause set up in his legacy. 

Captain Dave Seath tragically died whilst running the London Marathon in 2016; he was raising money for Help for Heroes. His loss has been very hard to take for all those who knew him, but thanks to his amazing family his legacy lives on through The Captain Dave Seath Memorial Fund. 

The Captain Dave Seath Memorial Fund was established by Gary, Dave’s brother, in May 2016. In partnership with Help for Heroes it provides financial grants to wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans, helping to rebuild lives following physical and psychological trauma. The funds are distributed through Help for Heroes’ Quick Reaction Fund (QRF), which means they can reach beneficiaries within 72 hours. To date, the Captain Dave Seath Memorial Fund has raised an impressive £273,000 and provided over 230 much needed welfare grants. 

My marathon training will start in earnest following the Christmas glut. This will be my first marathon and I cannot think of a better reason to run further than I ever have. Like so many others I remember Dave as a highly professional Army Officer, a loyal friend, and a big character who naturally brightened any situation. It will be an honour to run in his memory.
