I would like to start by saying thank you for taking the time to click on a link and reading about me and what I am doing to raise money for Support in Mind Scotland (SiMS) this year.
This year I decided to do a number of events to raise money for SiMS, a charity for which I am an ambassador, which means every year I try and raise some funds as well as raise awareness of the benefits that physical exercise has on one's mental wellbeing. I have added some photos of a recent event where I was part of a panel discussion and Q&A with fellow SIMS ambassadors.
This year the events will almost be like a training, warm up, main event and cool down. So what am I doing then?
Training: I will be completing the SiMS 100 Streets Challenge with my daughter Hannah. We will walk, run or cycle 100 streets to raise awareness of mental wellbeing.
For the warm up I will be taking part in the 70 km Kinross sportive on 27 April. The main event is my first middle distance triathlon (also known as a half Ironman) in Nottingham on 19 May. This will be a tough one for me as I only entered the sport of triathlon in January 2018. The final event, or cool down, is the The Great Scottish Walk & Run Festival on 30 June at Cramond beach where I am registered to run the 10km race.
