Adam is the son of a good friend of mine. He was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was only twelve years old and in his first year at Oakmeeds Community College.

His dad, Dan, would tell me how Adam was progressing and the way he was always full of courage and determination during his three years of treatment, forever in the hope of beating the disease.

Adam sadly lost his battle with cancer on 10th May 2012.

Having a son and daughter of a similar age myself, the news of Adam's death hit me hard. I realised how easily your loved ones could be taken from you so I decided to do something to try and help others like Adam and his family.

On the 28th July my son Tom and I will be setting off from Land's End and cycling a thousand miles to John O'Groats over ten days. We will be raising money for ' The Emily Ash Trust '. A small local charity supported by Adam's family.  The charity's aim is to improve the quality of life of young people and their families facing leukemia and cancer.(Charity registration no.1106615)
