We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a group of friends from Aboyne and Carlisle who have been persuaded by “our leader” Calum to a repeat of the charity challenge he completed with friends 10 years ago. Some of the original team are repeating it older and wiser, while the rest of us are just blissfully unaware how hard it will really be.....

Within a 48 hour limit, we will kayak 66 miles from Fort William to Inverness along the Caledonian Canal, followed by a 72.2 mile return road cycle and finally climb up Britain’s highest peak, the mighty Ben Nevis.

We are raising money for Alzheimer’s Scotland and Alzheimer Society,  two charities that do great work for vulnerable people with the disease and their families.

Calum’s Mum Joyce first showed signs of the disease back in 2008 and got progressively worse over the next few years. She is now in full time residential care.

The disease is heartbreaking and can be particularly tough for family members, many of whom become carers.

Please give any amount you can-we appreciate every penny! You can choose which charity you’d like to donate to by clicking the individual team page (Alzheimer Scotland or Alzheimer’s Society). We’d very much like to share the amount we raise between the two.

(Donating through JustGiving is simple.. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity.)

Thanks again

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
