As many of you already know the 24/12/2017 marked 10yrs to the day since I was blown up in Afghanistan and returned home as the UK's first triple amputee from the conflict. As you can imagine the road to recovery hasn't been an easy one but it has been made a lot more bearable because of the support that myself & my family have received from various military charities, the main one for me being The Royal Marines Charity. To say they literally gave me my independence back when thy funded my prosthetics is no exaggeration.
This year to mark the occasion and as my way of saying thank you to the charity for everything that they have done for me & my family I am opening a JustGiving page with the aim to raise as much as I possibly can for this great organisation.
My intention is to leave the page open all year until 24/12/2018 & whilst it is active I will be looking at under taking various different events as a way of raising funds. I'd also like to encourage anyone else who has been a part of my journey and who know's about the great work that the charity does to please get involved as well.
What I'd like to ask is if you are looking at doing anything charitable this year that you consider donating the proceeds of your event to this page to help me raise as much as possible to go to those that need it.
So if over the years I've perhaps helped you in some small way through my social media, by coming and speaking at your school or your business or whatever the case may be then please consider paying it forward to help me complete my mission.
2018 is my year of saying thank you.
