On the evening of Friday, 3rd of February, My wonderful Dad was hit by a car. He was rushed to St George's Hospital, and once he was stabilised he was moved onto their Intensive Care Unit.

He fought so bravely for thirteen days while the amazing doctors and nurses all tried to rebuild him after the devastating injuries he'd suffered. The care they gave him was exceptional. They could not have done more for him, from major surgery and constant 24 hour monitoring to giving him a shave as mum said he would feel better if he was kept tidy. Nothing was too much trouble. The way they managed to make us feel that he really was in the very best hands and we knew when we had to leave him every night that they would look after him in every way possible.

Despite battling valiantly, my Dad passed away on Thursday February 16th. The ICU made the very worst of situations the best it could possibly have been. For everything they did for my Dad and for our family we are truly grateful. The job they do on a daily basis is quite literally awe inspiring. They are phenomenal, which is why I have decided that the two marathons I am running soon (Brighton on April 9th and London on April 23rd) are going to be run for my Dad and at the same time will hopefully raise some money for St George's ICU as a thank you to them for everything they did for him and for us.

Dad ran an impressive 11 marathons himself and I feel this is a fitting tribute to him. Mum has asked that instead of flowers at his funeral, if anyone would like to make a donation to this cause which means so much to us, we would be very grateful.
