Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Let me tell you about why I am putting myself through this.

Centrestage is a charity like no other in my opinion who is supporting families all over Ayrshire. Even during the current Covid crisis, Centrestage continues to work hard for our community by cooking and delivering meals to those in need, providing support and even entertainment to vulnerable and isolated members of our community. I really can't do their work justice in this blurb so please checkout their website if you don't know about them.

For this good work to continue and for CS to realise their dreams they will need income. Normally this would be generated from their wonderful shows but with all of that on hold, I can only imagine they would appreciate some money.

So the challenge is for me to run 100k in the month of June. As I am sure you all know, running does not come naturally to me so I can assure you this is a big challenge for me! Prior to lockdown I hadn't run in years and was in very bad shape and carrying too much excess weight to mention. When lockdown happened I decided that I should try to get fit and with the gyms being shut, running seemed like the best option. I started with the couch to 5k app and am now regularly running 5k. That has been a big achievement in itself.

In May my amazing niece challenged herself to cycle 300k (zero to Giro)in one month for the NSPCC. This got me thinking What could I do to help people in the current climate? and what would be a proper challenge? So it seemed like a good idea to carry on with the running. 100k seems very daunting to me but I think it has to be a proper challenge. The name 'Unfit to Ultra' comes from the fact that ultra distance or ultra running, is any footrace longer than the traditional marathon length of 42.195 kilometres.

So here I go. Hopefully your donations will spur me on to completing this crazy task.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
